A quick guide to ski clothing
Modern ski clothing is based on layers; layers designed to take moisture (sweat) away from the skin and into the air; but must also trap warm air next to the skin, and this trapped air keeps you warm.
The next to the skin is the most important layer to get right. The base layer should be made of a modern polyester fabric with a good moisture wicking performance to remove moisture quickly way from the skin; be sure it is close fitting.
The mid layer provides insulation, and must be breathable to allow moisture through, and trap air to provide warmth; typically a fleece garment should be made of Synthetic Hollowfibre, which has great warmth to weight ratio.
The outer layer (jacket and pants) are to protect you from the snow and wind; but must also be breathable to remove moisture on the inside; keeping you dry and comfortable and warm.
Remember; it all about keeping you dry and warm while you are having fun on the slopes!
